Cambridge Made Summer Fair 2016

Here comes Summer! The Etsy Cambridge team of artists and makers, now working under the banner of ‘Cambridge Made’, will be returning to their favourite venue, St Andrews Street Baptist church, on Saturday June 11th, 10am-5pm, for a sunny, fresh and cheerful Summer Fair. Everyday Cambridge @ Hot Numbers Coffee

Everyday Cambridge by Naomi Davies 17th February – 13th March 2016 Cambridge-based artist Naomi Davies introduced her second solo exhibition at Hot Numbers Coffee, Gwydir Street last week and I was pleased to attend the preview evening. Pearls of Wisdom – a community art project

“Trust your instincts. Believe in yourself. Care for those around you.” Carol Freeman (Mum) Throughout the summer Turtle Dove Cambridge and Cambridge Art Salon worked on a collaborative project called ‘Pearls of Wisdom’. As part of Romsey Art Festival / Eastside Creates 2015 members of the public were invited to contribute work towards this intergenerational art project. ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ were gathered from the elderly as well as families across East Cambridge and launched as part of the Enchanted Tea Dance held at Ditchburn Place on Saturday 10th October. Romsey Art Festival / Cambridge Eastside Creates 2015

Romsey Art Festival, which first launched in 2013, has been back with an incredible program of exhibitions, activities and adventures for 2015. It is coming to a close this weekend after highly successful events such as the Baby Rave taking place at the Junction, Manuela Hübner’s exhibition at The Geldart, a Bespoke Poetry Sketch event at The Empress, Short Film Night at The Leper Chapel, and Rubbish Cooking at Barnwell Baptist Church. Cambridge Community Scrapstore

Tonight I visited the Cambridge Community Scrapstore based at Unit 17, Barnwell Business Park, Barnwell Drive, Cambridge CB5 8UY.  Scrapstore is coordinated by Cambridge City Council with the objective of encouring people to think about recycling and reducing their carbon footprint. The store is filled with donated materials which members can purchase to reuse in arts and crafts projects.  I spoke with the organisers who explained that they receive donations from the local community as well as local businesses.  They have done a great job of transforming this warehouse space into an inviting store. Yearly membership is offered at £5 per person or… Read More

Cambridge Sculpture Trails #1

Mitcham’s Models – a community art project

​The locals at Mitcham’s Corner in Cambridge have launched a month-long community art project with a unique twist. Throughout the month of July, Mitcham’s Models will be out on display in various locations around Mitcham’s Corner in a unique bid to brighten up the area and publicise the importance of Mitcham’s corner to the local community.
