#ShopCambridgeshire: Christmas Shopping Events – Part 1

With less than four weeks to go until Christmas we have put together a list of 30 festive shopping events taking place across Cambridgeshire… and just beyond. Today we bring you part one with 15 events where you are sure to find plenty of treasures!

1. Etsy Made Local – Cambridge Made Christmas Fair
When? Thursday 28th – Saturday 30th November
Where? St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church, Cambridge CB2 3AR
What? “From quirky and unique jewellery to cosy crochet and knits, from on-trend homeware to natural skincare, from vintage and upcycled treasures to original prints, posters and cards. The Cambridge Made Christmas Fair has established itself as one of the city’s festive highlights, regularly attracting many thousands of visitors over three days.” Find out further details and RSVP here.


2. Burghley Christmas Fair & Fine Food Market
When? Thursday 28th November – Sunday 1st December
Where? Burghley House, Stamford PE9 3JY
What? “Our biggest ever Christmas Fair, with the special Angel Fair, will offer a unique opportunity to find perfect gifts in the beautiful Elizabethan surrounding of the Chestnut Courtyard and Brewhouse. 3. Silver & Green Christmas Exhibition @ Fen Ditton Gallery
When? Thursday 28th November – Sunday 22nd December
Where? Fen Ditton Gallery, 23 High Street, Fen Ditton CB5 8ST
What? “Join us for warm and festive treats as you browse a selection of handcrafted gifts and contemporary art from British artists and makers.” You can expect to find ceramics by Jill Fanshawe Kato and Neil Tregear of Tregear Pottery, silverware by Janet Powell, photography by Lotte Attwood and much more! 4. The Book Warren Christmas Fayre
When? Friday 29th November
Where? The Book Warren and Cafe, Willingham CB24 5EU
What? “With lots of wonderful artists, crafters and makers of beautiful things, our Christmas Fayre is the place to find special gifts. Try our new range of preserves and chutneys and enjoy a drink and a festive treat.” Find out further details and RSVP here.


5. Xmas Charity Sale @ The Locker Cafe
When? Friday 29th November
Where? The Locker Cafe, 54 Kings Street, Cambridge CB1 1LN
What? An opportunity to buy Christmas presents and support local charities including Cambridge Street Aid. You will find ceramics, cards, leather goods and weavings. Find out opening times and RSVP here.


6. Histon Handmade Christmas 2019
When? Saturday 30th November
Where? St Andrew’s Centre, School Hill, Histon CB24 9JE
What? “Histon Handmade is an ever evolving event and exhibitors are deliberately rotated to ensure that each event is unique.” This contemporary design and craft fair was founded by member and designer-jeweller Claire Howieson. You will find a wonderfully curated line up of 23 local artists and designers at Saturday’s event including three new exhibitors: handwoven scarves and shawls by Nikki Grant Weaving, mosaics and glass art by Terry Chance, and fibre artist The Lady Moth. 7. Gifts at the Swifts Pop-up Shop
When? Saturday 30th November
Where? The Swifts, Haggis Gap, Fulbourn CB21 5HD
What? “Beautiful, unique, original handmade gifts, art, prints, jewellery, cakes, cards, Christmas decorations and more all under one roof for one day – sold direct to you by the maker.” Showcasing local artists Jackie Duckworth, Allison Henderson, wreaths by Fairweather Flowers, cakes by Cakeolicious, and more! 8. Ely Christmas Open Studios
When? Saturday 30th November – Sunday 1st December
Where? Various Studios in Ely
What? Join 12 artists this weekend across eight venues in and around Ely as they invite the public to view their studios and shop for original artwork and handcrafted items this Christmas. You will discover “an eclectic mix of jewellery, textiles, pottery, paintings, glasswork, handmade bags and clothes” from local artisans including Melanie Goemans, Carol and Bob Banks, Sarah Ruff, and Claire McGinley. 9. Manor Farm Christmas Fair 2019
When? Saturday 30th November
Where? Manor Farm, 14 Alms Hill, Bourn CB23 2SH
What? “Once again The Great Barn will be the perfect festive back-drop for our wonderful Christmas Fair. We look forward to welcoming over 50 stalls selling beautiful hand-made jewellery, artisan locally brewed craft beer, cards, decorations, unique gifts, homeware and handmade toys amongst many others. Christmas Trees and handcrafted wreaths also for sale. Father Christmas will be stopping by between 12pm and 2pm and there will be children’s activities to amuse little ones while you browse and shop.” Find out further details and RSVP here.

10. Museum Shop Sunday @ The Museum of Cambridge
When? Sunday 1st December
Where? The Museum of Cambridge, Cambridge CB3 0AQ
What? “Join us to celebrate all things local, and pick up a few unique Christmas pressies for your loved ones. We’ll be welcoming special stalls from many of our local suppliers, right here at the Museum. There’ll be gorgeous locally made jewellery, glasswork, pottery and more, perfect for those extra-special gifts or the odd stocking-filler or two.” QHERE will be showcasing their eco-friendly bags – made from recycled bicycle inner-tubes – alongside jewellery designer-maker Birgitte Bruun and other local makers! 11. Anna’s Flower Farm Christmas Bazaar
When? Sunday 1st December
Where? Anna’s Flower Farm, Saffron Walden CB11 4JB
What? “Visit us for our 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar with friends – The Modern Table cooking up the festive treats and master of flavours Bumble and Oak with chocolates. Gabby from Shop at SEED is bringing her ceramics with some new pieces especially for the Bazaar and finally, Gemma Rappensberger will be in the studio with her exquiste embroidery pieces. 12. Swaffham Prior Pop-up Gallery
When? Sunday 1st December
Where? Village Hall, High St, Swaffham Prior CB25 0LD
What? Prior Arts Group present a Christmas art and craft fair in the village hall featuring the work of nine local artists and makers. On show will be a range of textiles, paintings, ceramics, prints, wooden crafts and jewellery. There will be plenty of unique and handmade gifts for sale at affordable prices! 13. Christmas Market @ Hot Numbers Roastery
When? Monday 2nd – Friday 6th December
Where? Hot Numbers Roastery, Royston SG8 6RB
What? Hot Numbers are hosting a Christmas market at The Roastery next week where you will find pop-up stalls selling artisan food, candles, cards, jewellery, plants, knitwear, mosaics, wrapping paper and christmas decorations. Small and Green will be selling their plants on Tuesday and Wednesday, and local artist Naomi Davies will be selling her work on Thursday. For further details check out their Facebook page here.


14. Milton Winter Open Studios 2019
When? Thursday 5th December
Where? The Garden Studio, 6 Cambridge Road, Milton CB24 6AW
What? Our members Alison Hullyer and Divine Decadence Jewellery invite you to their upcoming Winter Open Studios event. Cheryl Bird and Linda Bartlett will be showcasing their beautifully handcrafted jewellery plus their sparkling crystal snowflake decorations. Alison will have her popular range of screen-printed tea towels and coasters as well as a selection of pictures and Christmas cards.


15. Love Local Christmas Pop-up @ The Maltings
When? Thursday 5th December 2019
Where? The Maltings, Riverside, Ship Lane, Ely CB7 4BB
What? “After the success of its first shopping event, Love Lane is hosting a Love Local Christmas evening at The Maltings in Ely.” Shop with over 30 local independents selling unique products. Tickets are £4 and include a gift and seasonal drink on arrival. Find out further details and RSVP here.
