What’s On: Cambridge Made Christmas Fair 2018, Mistletoe & Wine Exhibition at VK Gallery, PAOS Affordable Art Fair & More!

Can you believe it is only one month until Christmas? We have lots to share with you today including details of this year’s Cambridge Made / Etsy Made Local Christmas Fair which kicks off on Thursday, the Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios (PAOS) Affordable Art Fair and Mill Road Winter Fair 2018 which are taking place on Saturday – and find out about our members upcoming Winter open studios events! Have you thought about buying your loved ones beautiful handmade art this Christmas? Get down to VK Gallery (18A Bridge St, St Ives PE27 5EG) for the ‘Mistletoe & Wine’ Christmas exhibition and discover a selection of beautiful crafts and original artwork as well as Christmas cards, wrapping paper and festive decorations! If you are not able to make it in person then you can also purchase work via the gallery’s online shop. This exhibition will be on show until Christmas Eve and you can check opening times and what they have in store here.


For one night only our member Kate Green ART invites you to view her newest artwork and range of art gifts at her Winter open studio event. You can expect mulled wine and mince pies on arrival and the chance to shop her latest collections! The event is taking place in Cambridge (65 Akeman Street, Cambridge CB4 3HG) from 7:30PM on Friday 30th November 2018.

Our member Sue Rapley will also be opening her studio next weekend and this year she will be introducing the work of fellow member and local ceramicist Claire Folkes. Sue’s beautiful studio is situated just outside of Cambridge in Barton (Glebe House, 1 High Street, Barton CB23 7BG) and will be open from 11-5PM on Saturday 1st and 8th December 2018 – find an invitation to attend below!

Cambridge Made return to St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church (43 St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge CB2 3AR) for the fourth year of their popular Christmas Fair from Thursday 29th November until Saturday 1st December 2018! 45+ designer-makers from Cambridge and East Anglia will be joining them across the three days – including Cambridge Made favourites and a host of exciting new makers.

What will you find? Handmade jewellery to suit all tastes; knitted, crochet and textile accessories; stunning original Christmas cards and decorations; individual ceramics and glassware; gifts for bike lovers and book lovers; beautiful wood products worked by hand; original prints and artwork; contemporary designer homewares; organic handmade bath and body products and gift sets; quirky and unusual items you won’t spot anywhere else; and lots more!

Join Cambridge Made (the Etsy Made Local Team) for some genuine seasonal magic – browse the stalls, chat with friendly makers and then have a sit down with a hot drink and a sneaky mince pie or pastry in the adjoining café. Find out more and RSVP to the event here.


Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios (PAOS) are hosting an Affordable Art Fair on Saturday 1st December 2018 from 11-4PM at Colonel Dane Community Centre (Alwalton, Peterborough PE2 3UU). You can expect to find a showcase of affordable art from 21 local artists including mosaics by Mahamuda (Muni) Arsalani, pottery by Denise Brown, mixed media by Jacki Cairns, jewellery by Jill Colman and Nadine Gereson, digital art by Chris Lovell, painting by Tony Nero, ceramics by Katherine Parsons, and printmaking by Prue Pye.

All artwork will be for sale and everything priced under £50 – a great opportunity to source unique Christmas presents whilst supporting local artists! Every year on the first Saturday of December the wonderfully unique Mill Road in Cambridge, UK plays host to a Christmas extravaganza bringing thousands of visitors the City’s streets! Mill Road Winter Fair 2018 takes place next weekend on Saturday 1st December 2018 from 10:30-4:30PM. Get down and celebrate the beginning of winter whilst discovering local artists and makers, producers and food vendors, musicians and entertainers – and so much more! Members of USK Cambridge – the local urban sketching group – will be attending the fair from 11AM to sketch the colourful and festive event. This is the groups’ last sketchcrawl of the year and they would love for you to join them! The sketchers will be meeting in front of St Barnabas Church (Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 2BD).
