Welcome back to our featured members series for August 2018! We hope you have all been enjoying the Summer months – it sure has been one to remember with such high temperatures here across Cambridgeshire, UK. Throughout July we had a great time exploring Cambridge Open Studios and discovering new artists across the county! It was also the perfect opportunity to get along to meet some of our members for the first time and see their work in person. We are really excited to introduce to you this month designer-jeweller Claire Howieson, artist Clive Dawson, florist Wild Florals and eco-friendly maker BeeBee Wraps.
Claire Howieson is a designer-jeweller based in Cambridge. Her work is often inspired by the materials she uses such as freshwater pearls, precious and semi-precious stones. She particularly enjoys sourcing the stones which are then incorporated into her bold handcrafted silver and gold jewellery. Claire is also the founder of the Histon Handmade contemporary art and craft fairs. You can meet Claire and lots of local makers at the next event on Saturday 24th November 2018! RSVP here.
Clive Dawson is an artist who exhibits widely across Cambridgeshire. He uses acrylics in most of his works but does really like to experiment with all types of media. Clive’s paintings are full of colour and he likes to incorporate an element of humour into his pieces. He uses expressive mark making to engage his audience and enjoys witnessing his work making people smile.
Check out more of Clive’s paintings over in his gallery here.
Rosanna Bailey is the floral designer by Wild Florals. Her creations have a whimsical-wild flare and she often incorporates botanicals that she has grown herself into her pieces! Rosanna creates floral gifts, bespoke bouquets and also supplies flowers for weddings and other events. She experiments with colours, textures and forms using materials that celebrate all aspects of the horticultural world.

BeeBee Wraps are makers of reusable and eco-friendly beeswax food wraps designed to be used instead of plastic in order to help reduce plastic pollution. Kath Austin, founder of BeeBee Wraps, moved to Cambridge in 2007. She knew it was important to reduce her family’s impact on the planet and was inspired to create a sustainable product. Her business has grown rapidly and earlier on this year she moved into new premises giving her the ability to produce her handmade product on a much bigger scale!
