What’s On: November + December 2017

Last month was a very exciting one for us here at The Trove Cambridge. We were invited to run a creative workshop at the first ever #CBGTown Indoor Market run by local blogger Charlotte Steggz; it was a fantastic event to be a part of and we helped raise money for local charity Cambridge Food Cycle. We also launched our community membership offer to local artists, designers and makers in October – for which the response so far has been very positive! We will be revealing more about this very soon but in the meantime keep an eye on the Community area of our website.
Here we have our round-up of local creative events taking place across Cambridgeshire throughout November and December 2017. If you enjoy a Christmas market then you will certainly want to get down to one of the upcoming handmade craft and gift fairs! If you are an art lover then we also have details of upcoming exhibitions and open studios. This evening we headed into Cambridge to check out the Eclectic Mix Cambridge Christmas Pop-up Market as well as Cambridge Art Fair. Both of these events are on over this coming weekend and well worth a trip into the City for – find out more below!
The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge are marking the centenary of artist Edgas Degas’ death with the ‘Degas: a passion for perfection’ exhibition. They are showcasing the museum’s extensive collection of his works as well as numerous pieces on loan from public and private collections across the world. The exhibition spans three galleries and is on display now until Sunday 14th January 2018. Free entry.
Yesterday evening this year’s Cambridge Art Fair opened with a highly succesful private view. We headed down this afternoon to check out the event for the first time and were very impressed with the diverse range of work on show. The fair brings together galleries and dealers from across the UK to show their current collections. It was a great opportunity to see examples of the work on sale at local galleries Primavera (Cambridge), Byard Art (Cambridge) and The Daryll Nantais Gallery (Linton). We also discovered The Art Hound Gallery who opened their permanent gallery space last year at Burwash Manor. Eight of the 51 artists featured in The Cambridge Art Book also have a stand showing a great selection of work inspired by the City. The fair is open on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November from 11AM.
