What’s On: July 2017

Hello, is that you Summer? July in Cambridgeshire is always a wonderful celebration of our local artists with the annual Cambridge Open Studios events. We always look forward to this time of year, visiting studios and exhibitions, catching up with and getting to know more of Cambridgeshire’s artists, designers and makers. Here is our round-up of the creative events taking place across the county this month – including open days at Copper Boom Studio and Cambridge Community Arts.

When: 1st-2nd, 8th-9th, 15th-16th & 22nd-23rd July 2017
Where: Cambridgeshire, UK

The second weekend of this year’s Cambridge Open Studios has arrived, the weather is looking good and we are getting ready to head out and explore more studios. Cambridge Open Studios is an incredible community of around 470 artists, designers and makers from across Cambridgeshire of which over 350 open their studios and workshops during the annual open studios event. To find out more about the network visit their website here.

This week we discovered the brand new app which you can download to your phone (Android and iPhone), giving you access to information on all of the participating artists as well as which weekends they are open. The two features we are loving are: the ability to favourite artists in order to quickly access their details later on, and the maps function which allows you to find out which studios are closest to your current location.

Enjoy Cambridge Open Studios this July. First 4 weekends. #camos17

Several members across a number of locations have grouped together to produce artists’ trail maps. We are looking forward to following the Histon & Impington route this weekend:

As well as individual studios opening to the public this month there are also several exhibitions taking place across Cambridgeshire. We always love taking a trip out to Burwash Manor to see the Artists’ Marquee. This year 17 artists will be showcasing their work over the four weekends – including: bookbinder Edel Hopkin, printmakers Andy McKenzie and Kate Heiss, woodturner Rowland Penfold, and jewellery designer-makers Heather Stowell, Hannah Souter and Becky Convey.
