It’s been a while since we posted over on the blog – almost a year in fact! We are pleased to be back and will let you know more soon in the run up to the launch of our brand new website coming this Summer. For now though, we are back with a round-up of some fantastic creative events popping up in and around Cambridge this month.
SPRING FAIR @ THE PUNTER PUB, CAMBRIDGE
When: Saturday 8th April 2017 @ 12-5PM
Where: The Punter Pub, 3 Pound Hill, Cambridge
The Punter Pub in Cambridge is well known for its great selection of Ales and high quality food but on Saturday they open their doors to their Spring Fair! Pop down for a drink and shop a great selection of wares from local handmade and independent businesses. Discover artwork, handmade silver jewellery and light fixtures as well as vintage accessories and succulents.
GRANTCHESTER ART & CRAFT SPRING SHOW
When: Sat 8th & Sun 9th April 2017 @ 10-5PM
Where: Grantchester Village Hall, Grantchester
This weekend Grantchester Village Hall hosts the two-day Grantchester Spring art and craft show. Expect to see an incredible mix of art and handmade goods – including jewellery, ceramics, woodturning, photography and home accessories. Printmakers Zipporah Harrison (Zipporah Prints) and Andy McKenzie will also be there alongside Alison Reed Chocolates. Support your local artists and makers whilst picking up an Easter treat or two!
HISTON HANDMADE EASTER FAIR
When: Saturday 15th April 2017 @ 12-7PM
Where: St Andrew’s Centre, School Hill, Histon
Looking for something to do over the Easter weekend? Histon Handmade is holding its second fair featuring the work of 15 local designers and makers. Histon Handmade was established by jewellery designer-maker Claire Howieson last year opening with an incredibly successful first event in November with a turnout of over 750 visitors! Exhibtiors are selected by invitation only which guarantees a showcase of the highest quality of work. On show alongside Claire’s jewellery will be: prints and cards from Jo Clark and Roxana de Rond; ceramics by Rachel Dormor and Sarah Went; baskets by Nadine Anderson; glass by Jutta Robinson; textiles by Anna Osbourne; paintings from Sue Smith and Ophelia Redpath; metal clocks by Rebecca Stark; handmade books from Edel Hopkin; photography and printmaking from Sarah Vigliotti; wooden furniture from Andrew Strickland; and jewellery by Abi Cochran. Something for everyone! Cambridge Street Bakes will also be on hand with some tasty treats. For more information check out the website here. CAMBRIDGE CREATIVES PHOTOWALK
When: Sunday 23rd April 2017 @ 1-4PM
Where: Meet at ‘Reality Checkpoint’, Parker’s Piece
We are so pleased to see the that the Cambridge Creatives Photowalk is back for Spring! Join Claire (Claireabellemakes), Jo (Hello Sunshine) and other like-minded creatives for a walk around Cambridge in order to capture some of the city’s Instagram-worthy sites. The walk lasts for 2.5 hours starting at Parker’s Piece and finishing at Jesus Green with a picnic and time to post your photos! Be sure to dig out your colourful attire and make sure to RSVP to the event here. BA PHOTOGRAPHY PRINT AUCTION
When: Thursday 27th April 2017 @ 6PM
Where: The Blue Moon, 2 Norfolk Street, Cambridge
BA Photography students from the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University are holding a print auction this month to raise money for their degree show ‘Lux-Aura’ which is to take place in June at the Old Truman Brewery in London. The soon-to-be graduates are aiming to raise £6000 which will enable them to put on a high quality exhibition in order to showcase their work to established photographers and top critics within the industry. Show your support and get your hands on some amazing artwork at the auction taking place at The Blue Moon pub in Cambridge. If you are unable to make the event but would love to support their venture you can make a pledge over on their Kickstarter campaign here – but it must be by Sunday 30th April 2017!
